There is another strategy that should be considered beyond trying to tape up the holes in the existing system: Democracy. That again is a big D, Democracy.

We don’t need representatives, we are far more aware of our own needs than representatives could ever hope to be (and they don’t represent our interests anyway). So I propose a new process, let us use the internet to implement popular voting for legislation that has jurisdiction over our lives.

Money is an issue, yes, but if popular voting is in effect then the bribes would also have to disperse to the general population. This is how rigging of the system was negated back in Socrates time and it can work for us as well. Removing representation and the concentration of power it provides negates or diminishes the effectiveness of many of these issues we consider a rot in the system.

So please reconsider the root issue at hand, a lack of Democracy.
