Citizens Take Action to Get Corporate Money out of Politics
Friday, January 20, 2012 from 11:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.
Abraham Ribicoff Federal Building, 450 Main Street, Hartford
MARCH AND DEMONSTRATION!!
To establish fairness in our elections and return to the founding principles of our democracy.

On January 20, 2012, we will “Occupy The Courts” by demonstrating at the Abraham Ribicoff Federal Building in Hartford. This action will be a lively event featuring large puppets and a Chinese-style dragon representing the awakened energy of the American people to strengthen our democracy.

We are taking action as a large group of concerned Connecticut citizens to oppose the United State Supreme Court’s decision in the Peoples United vs. Federal Election Commission decision of January 21, 2010. This decision equates money with speech and allows unlimited corporate money to influence our elections.

A growing group of Americans is working to raise awareness and pass legislation on the local and national level to oppose this decision and create fairness in our elections. Local resolutions opposing this decision have been passed in Los Angeles, Albany, Oakland, Boulder and New York City and a national movement to amend the Constitution by defining personhood as pertaining only to natural persons is gaining momentum. See www.movetoamend.org for more information.
